My Living Room

This is my living room. I like to play video games here. I'd wager this took me about 30 hours to draw. I started on March 29th, 2023 , and finished late at night on April 4th. Everything you see in the picture is something I drew, except for the TV screen; that's just a screenshot I pulled from Google Images.

TV, Stand, and Background

I started with a few reference images for the stand, TV and background image. I basically just traced the TV and background, although I had to be a little more clever with the stand since my reference picture wasn't what I had envisioned. For the stand, the outlines roughly match up with the reference picture, but I colored the inside differently, and did away with the transparent doors.

I copied the lighting from the TV's reference picture while I was drawing, and that decision was very influential over the rest of the drawing process. I realized that I needed to have the lighting match up for all of the objects, so from then on everything needed to be colored as if there was a lamp just slightly offscreen. I had originally intended to put a lamp in the picture, but there wasn't enough room and I realized I'd have to redo the lighting for everything I'd made so far. Next time, I'll make sure to place anything that emits light BEFORE I color in lighting effects. Lesson learned!
